In Los Alcazares you will be greatly surprised. Here you will find some cute little boutiques and shops all near your accommodation, selling all types of perfumes. You will not have to walk too far to locate a good restaurant and the open air markets are definitely to be visited. These markets are on a Tuesday and Saturday and get very busy especially in the summer months. For those who would like to visit major Spanish shopping chains like Zara etc, you will Cartagena can provide you with much to choose from. You can either go to the Shopping mall Espacio Mediterranea or you can go right near the port where you will find designers and shoes. Both will have you shopping until you drop.

Another area near to Los Alcazares with great accommodation is San Pedro del Pinatar, which has a market on a Monday and also many small shops to choose from. On a Wednesday you can visit Santiago de la Ribera, Cartagena or El Mirador for Weekly markets and San Javier on Thursday is another and also Los Urrutias has their market on a Thursday too. Torrevieja holds their open market on a Friday and has many interesting stalls with bags and interesting novelties.

On Saturday as mentioned Los Narejos has their market and all sorts of items can be purchased here even curtains and table cloths and clothes and is great for souvenirs as is the Saturday market in Torre Pacheco. Another fantastic market is the Sunday market in Cabo de Palos as I myself, have been known to walk away very happy, with a lovely painting to hang up in my lounge area and was a great bargains. All these markets are within easy access from Los Alcazares

In particular and due to the fact that I have many golfer friends I can inform you that playing golf here on the Mar Menor is more than highly reccommended. We are so lucky here to have amazing golf courses and they are appreciated by people from all over the world. There are seven golf courses in the area and this number is increasing. That's not to forget the many golf courses built on the surrounding areas and in close proximity. This is truly a golfers paradise if you like playing in a relaxing and friendly environment and they also offer fantastic accommodation.

These golf courses range from Roda beach and Golf club and the Torre Del Rame in Los Alcazares. Polaris world which is local to Torre Pacheco and Mosa Trajectum, and Hacienda del Alamo are close by and La Manga golf club is very popular. The golf course in Villamartin is about 25 minutes away and has one of the most established courses in the locality and is a firm favorite as are the rest of the Golf quara courses (Las Ramblas, which is a little more challenging and La finca) of which villamartin golf comes under.

Campoamor golf in Campoamor, is a very well respected golf course and Las Colinas golf near San Miguel de las Salinas is one of the top 100 courses. Truly stunning and they also offer a 3o-1 hour walk through their fantastic landscape including some falconry. Why not try the sushi restaurant in Las Colinas or sample their fantastic varied menu.

For any of you divers out their Cabo de Palos offers some great diving sites and the Hormigas Islands there are a Marine reserve as the conservation of this areas has kept its natural beauty. This is a well known divers getaway as it is top of the diving sites in Spain. The possibility for great dives stretches all the way from the Costa Calida to the Costa Blanca coast through to Mazzaron and Aguilas and have provided many great dives.

If you want to get in touch with one of the water sports schools just take a trip down the mar menor promenade and take a walk into establishments offering their services. You will see them with signs up and many water sports fans nearby. Speak to the staff their and you will find that most speak English and are happy to speak to you about your queries be it jet skiing, windsurfing, kite boarding or pedallos.

All types of water sports are at hand and water / aqua parks such as the Aquapolis near Torrevieja. A Torrevieja is about 20-25 mins away you,you'll be there in no time and the water park has its opening season from 15th June -15th September.

Why not take a boat ride on the Mar Menor, which can be picked up from the Infanta christina and then goes along the all the way to some of the islands of the Mar Menor, between Santiago de la Ribera , La Manga and Los Alcazares, depending on their schedule that summer.
